Wahana coffee estate was established in 2006 and covers an area of 480 hectares.

It is located in Desa Lae Mungkur, Kel. Sidiangkat, Kab. Dairi, North Sumatera, which is one of the best regions for coffee plantation in Indonesia.
The altitude of Wahana estate is 1200 – 1320m above sea level and with annual rainfall of 1,450 mm/year, which are really suitable for the growth of coffee trees.

The estate focuses on producing mainly Long Berry and Rasuna varietals, producing Washed, Natural and Semi-Washed Coffees.

Wahana Estate, established in 2006, is owned by PT Wahana Graha Makmur. The estate’s namesake, which means “vessels for great success,” echoes the owners’ commitment to produce great quality coffee and helping farmers throughout the region by serving as a demonstration plot and experimental farm.

There are 13 different varieties on the estate’s 250 hectares of coffee, including some local hybrids Rasuna, Long Berry, Andong Sari, Toraja, S795 (Jember), Jantung, and the well known Caturra, Catuai, Villa Sarchi and Typica.

The estate has established a farmers’ support center that distributes coffee seeds and offers information and advice on farm management. The center also distributes shade trees and provides information on how to use organic fertilizers.

The estate employs between 800 and 1,000 local workers. Workers and their families have access to an on-site health clinic, free housing, electricity, drinking water, healthcare and a nursery & kindergarten for young children. They also built a church and mosque on the grounds for workers’ use and have been instrumental in purchasing computers for local schools.
